Comments
Comments: Well I may have dragged my feet on this one as I amJust not ready for the frigid cold yet. It was 4 when I got there but it was 6 when I started around 8:45. I was surprised to see 3 other cars in the lot and wondered if I would see anyone. I started up and hit the ammo cut off and saw 1 fresh boot prints. I snowshoed from parking lot to parking lot. The low part is a little boney but I was fine with them on still and especially needed up higher where I smoothed everything out and the 1 boot print put on snowshoes after the last crossing thankfully. I saw some deeeep post holes. I went slower to try and keep the body temp down due to the weather. Clear skiies looked like I was going to make it Washington for a bonus peak but the wind had other plans. Right before I hit the hut I saw the 1 man ahead of me. We met at the hut while we both added layers as the wind started to wip! I left my bag there and left first, which ment breaking trail all the way with some hard snow, softsnow and I hit a spruce trap then went to my thigh which I got out of quickly. Made sure to tread lightly after that. As I walked sideways for the wind to hit my clothing I knew Washington was out of the question. It was slow going but made it to the summit, too my photo and headed back down. Crossed paths with the man again and rught after I would have said was the windiest yet for the day. Brisk! I quickly got to the hut and saw most of our prints were gone from the wind. There were prints going to washington before we got there from either today or yesterday still in tact. I saw at the hut til I saw the guy come into view and headed down. Made it in 5 hours which for the conditions and not trying to move too quickly I can’t complain. Another grid peak down.
