Beautiful clear and calm day. Trail was wonderfully broken out by others earlier in the week. About 6-8" of snow down low and 8-12" up high. Still very soft and powdery. I went with snowshoes the whole way which I deemed the conditions perfect for. Forgot how steep the Pine Bend Brook trail is. Prime butt sliding conditions on the way down - it was honestly the safest way to descend the steeps. Only 2 other people on the trail today - alas they were wearing microspikes behind me and the trail was quite chopped up once I passed them. Made it a real ankle twister for me in snowshoes. The snow is still quite soft, not firm yet. |
