Comments
Comments: Foggy, overcast conditions made for an excellent return visit to Lost Pass. I used the old corridor of the former Snows Brook Trail to ascend from Waterville Valley to the trail’s current terminus at around 2,700 ft., where it disappears into a wall of blowdowns and young conifers; from here, I took my usual bypass route which involves bushwhacking partway up the northern slopes of Flat Mtn. North and then dropping down to a large beaver meadow in the pass. This 0.5 mile section is almost entirely open, provided that one stays within the narrow band of mixed forest.

I measured a snow depth of 16 inches in forested areas near the pass, and 4-5 inches at the start of the abandoned trail; snowshoes were necessary and used for the entire trip.
