Saw one cute pup all geared up with shell and booties! What a good owner because there was a lot of snow dropping off the trees. The booties kept the wet snow from balling up on her paws. |

Arriving at the trailhead parking lot at the York Pond trail I was surprised to see it full so I parked on the side of the lot. The trail conditions were good for most of the hike and wore microspikes the entire way. Brought snowshoes and considered putting them on a couple times but held off. Met up with another hiker, Rob from NH, who I ended up hiking with the entire trip. Great guy and such a pleasure to talk to! We exchanged numbers at the end so we’ll probably connect and hike together in the future. A lot of hikers out today taking advantage of the mild temps and good conditions before the upcoming monsoon. Saw two piles of moose droppings on the peak and quite a few prints. Trail was like walking on beach sand on the way back down and got drenched from all the snow falling off the trees. Didn’t expect to get any good views from the summit or from Bunnell Rock but ended up with some great views with a little sun breaking through. Ate lunch in the cabin at the top and signed the book. Great day! |
