Comments
Comments: Classic shoulder season conditions with bootpacked snow/ice/slush. I was able to bareboot roundtrip because the ice was soft in the upper 30s/foggy weather, but areas of snow/ice that survive the forecast rain may warrant light traction. Nearly full snowcover remains in the woods, though nearby southern slopes are fairly melted. After sticking for a few days, snow is now off the trees.

I was originally planning to do the ridge over to East Rattlesnake, but decided not to due to the trail conditions and was glad I didn't; the ground frost is thawing under the melting snow, so foot traffic would do damage to the underlying trail. Probably best to give the trails a little time to recover after the forecast rain.
