Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trails in this part of Bear Brook State Park are unfortunately not kept up very well. No blowdowns to speak of but signage is incorrect/inconsistent/completely missing and nothing is blazed. As there are many intersecting paths and roads out here, it would help to have the official routes marked better.

Comments
Comments: This was a scouting mission of sorts to see if I could come up with a loop option over Hall Mtn. for the 6th edition of the SNHTG, to replace one of the Bear Brook hikes that is coming out. On the map this loop looked simple enough but on the ground it became more complicated due to the trail maintenance issues mentioned above, crossing private land, and the need to string trails together with unmarked connecting paths/roads. So, I don't think this one is going to work. Still, it's always nice to get out and I was able to get this in before the rain arrives.

All of these trails/roads were wet, with Hall Mountain Trail being the wettest and muddiest.

From the height-of-land on Hall Mountain Trail I did the short bushwhack to the true summit of Hall, which is marked with a small cairn. Hall is also the Candia high point.

There was a hunter's truck at the trailhead when I arrived but I didn't see them. Two trail runners whizzed past along Hall Mountain Trail. A quiet morning out there.
