Comments
Comments: Great day to get out. Lots of snow and ice at the trailhead. The first water crossing of Champney Brook was easily rock hopable. The trail a mix of packed snow and dry patches and ice spikes was the perfect traction device for our hike. The second crossing was a bit more challenging with most of the rocks submerged with several inches of water and a bit of ice on some of the rocks. Some of us hiked a bit upstream and used a log partially crossing the brook. The third and final crossing could be done if you were willing to risk four or more inches of water covering the most obvious route. At this point, no one wanted cold wet feet on the exposed summit with wind chill temps. A group decision was made to turn around and hike another mountain today. We headed over to Hedgehog for a fun hike and some views.
