Comments
Comments: Up the North Slide and return via Scaur Ridge Trail. Livermore Trail had 1-2 inches of powder on top of ice, with surprisingly few muddy sections. The north fork of the Mt. Tripyramid Trail had much better cover, around 5-6 inches and much more at the slide. I carried full crampons but never used them as my Tubbs Mountaineer snowshoes were getting good purchase in the supportive crust, which extended all the way up the slide. Observed a few sections of pillowy deep powder just below some rocks, but these were easy to avoid. Unfortunately all the trails I hiked on were badly postholed, with many of the divots locked in from the refreeze. Otherwise, a nice day of snowshoeing on North Tri.
