Lower sections are very boney. We opted to bareboot for the first mile before putting on spikes, probably should have put them on around .75 miles. From there to the top it was fairly consistent trail conditions. A light coating of snow, less than an inch most of the time covered up hard packed snow with the occasional ice patch hidden underneath. Toward the top .4 miles there was some slight drifting from winds the night before but nothing deeper than 6 inches at most. Ran into 5 others hikers on the way down. We opted to keep spikes on until about .75 from the car when it gets really boney and bare in some spots. Trail is pretty solid as of now, snowshoes went for a ride. |
