Needed Isolation for Single Season Fall. Started on Rocky Branch. The beginning of the trail was leaves and loose snow. Got through the switchback section of RB in just my boots. I leveled out on trail in just my bareboots. Broke a lot of loose ice on trail made a mess. Arrived to the Engine Hill BW and saw that there was a path from previous hikers. The path was fine to follow. Engine hill could use some more snow. It felt like hiking in spring conditions. I switched over to my Snowshoes on Engine Hill to help pack down the path a little bit more. The whole time on Engine Hill I could hear the winds gusts above me I felt super safe being in the woods and not exposed in those wind conditions. I saw some moose tracks. I arrived to the Iso Express water crossings and was very happy with the levels. I saw some rocks that I could use to help me cross. No Issues with the crossings this time. I arrived onto the Iso Express and gave it a fresh breaking out. There were no previous foot steps from previous hikers. It was a fresh break out. I tried my best. I was using my GPS off of my phone from a previous winter root that I think is the best break out that I've had on Isolation. Lets hope after this Monday storm that my footprints can lead hikers up Iso Express. |
