Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I did cut one blowdown at between the relocations. It was partially blocking the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A few dogs out today. Many folks encountered a small porcupine who really wanted to sun himself on a ledge in the trail, it was above the upper ledges after the long rocky ridge in the woods before the ridge started to skinny up. I missed it going up but saw it waddling out the way heading down. A dog with prey drive woudld get mouth full of quills if it went after it.

Comments
Comments: Great day for short hike. started out over dressed and was removing gear as I went. I ended up in poly T-shirt and if I had shorts I probably would have put them on. No wind at the summit of South Moat. Not worth wearing microspikes but there are some wet icy patches on the upper 1/4 of the trail. I saw a couple of trail runners using spikes way down low and could see their tracks in the dirt. IMHO, in these conditions they need to take the spikes off when the conditions change.
