We opted to avoid the crossing at the Cog and bushwhack to the trail from the RR tracks. Could have crossed the stream with spikes |

A blow down half mile in on Jewel with a walk around.The trees just before tree line need trimming. With snow cover they touch you as you hike by |

Lucy loved the trail. Only problem was lack of sticks to throw at elevation |

We bare booted to tree line breaking 8" of powder. Above tree line we mostly stayed on the trail breaking through some deep drifts. Once on Gulf side the rock and stiff snow made walking a challenge to avoid ankle twisting. Returning from Jeff, John put on snowshoes to practice his rock avoidance maneuvers . It was a super Presy day today. Jefferson has never treated me so well. |
