A combination of bareboot and spikes today. Franconia Bike path is off and on icy, then once in the woods the trail starts off bare. Lots of running water, wet spots and leafy muck spots early on. Trail becomes kind of more covered/icy after the Flume Slide Trail junction, spikes went on again here but there were a few sections afterward that they weren't needed. Trail is mostly icy, barely any snow. The stretch before the campsites then on to the summit had the most coverage of the trail with snow/ice but even then a few rocks were poking through. Snowshoes were not necessary at all. Epic views as usual from Liberty on another gorgeous day, though I admit I am missing the snow! |
