Left the ski lot to get to Wildcat D before 8 am. Spikes door to door. The lower ski trails are closed to skiers and are a mix of hard packed snow, frozen cat grooming tracks, and slick ice covered snow. The upper ski trails are open and were groomed before the mountain opened: aka beach sand. Wildcat Ridge Trail was hard packed snow with a few isolated icy patches and softer fresh snow. All perfect for spikes. Snowshoes won't be needed until after some more snow falls [except on ski trails]. |
