I parked on the road (well off the road) and yes the road is open until the jackson trailhead parking lot. Highland center is open too. 1.5 miles in there is a mess of a tree that needs either a hand saw or chainsaw.. |

I cleared as much as I could. About 100 feet into the trail from 302 there is a maybe foot in diameter tree almost fully across the trail at maybe chest height. This will need a chainsaw. I removed the rest of them. |

Well I was first on the trail and summit today. I barebooted until I was too cold (3700’) I am good flatfoot walking. Could have easily put them on lower. There is ice with a dusting of snow from yesterday. Up higher there is a very hard snowpack to the summit. Very boney right now. I love my snowshoes but no place for that right now. Spikes are the way to go!! Wind was pretty brisk so I took my photo and left with some nice wind color to my face. I didn’t see my first person til I was back lower than the junction. I then soon passed another lady with a dog and then 2 other people before making it back down to the blowdowns to clear those up before heading to the truck. Clear skies today and I spiked all the way back down til it wad too boney about .4 left of trail. |
