Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The SRKG folks have put up new signs at both ends of the trail. They look great but unfortunately the mileages don't match up. The sign at Stearns Rd. states it's 3.0 mi. to Wilmot Town Hall. The sign at Pinnacle Rd., however, 0.4 mi. from the town hall, states that it's 3.0 mi. to Stearns Rd. The western side of the trail had a couple notable blowdowns but the eastern section has many more. Some look new from the recent storm while others appear to have been there for a while. I cleared a lot of larger debris along the way but didn't have a saw with me today.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: FYI there are a pack of aggressive dogs at the last house on Pinnacle Rd. right next to the eastern trailhead. They didn't seem too happy that I was nearby.

Comments
Comments: This was a west-to-east traverse of Bog Mtn. from Stearns Rd. to Pinnacle Rd. and back again.

This route was surprisingly dry given Monday's deluge. There were some wet areas but they were few and far between. Some areas of black ice on ledges were melting out midday. A short stretch of the trail on the eastern side was a running stream. Most ledges, especially in the open, were dry.

I'd never been on the eastern side of this trail and it's a pretty stiff climb to get back over the mountain again. There's also an interesting rocky mini-ridge that provides some views. No issues with the route on this side through the previously logged areas.

All of the viewpoints were excellent today with the clear weather. The cairn at the true summit has been reduced to two rocks.
