| Comments: |
Snow is gone for first few miles. Some ice still on trail. Most of it is avoidable. I bare booted all the way up the steeps. It was a challenge to stay on the rocks and avoid the pockets of ice. Once above the boulder field I put on spikes. The trail at this juncture was hard ice snow. Only sharp spikes will work for these conditions. Bareboots again for the chimney or the bypass. Back to spikes to the top of Osceola. These conditions require great care. Allow extra time to stay upright and avoid broken bones. |
