Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels have receded. Crossed by stepping on rocks, avoiding the ice glazed ones.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I removed many large branches and broken tree tops from the trails. A large bushy Balsam Fir fell across the Gale River Trail just below the Garfield Ridge Trail, and another fell across the Twinway close to the Hut. I broke branches off both to get through them, but they could use a better manicure with a saw.

Comments
Comments: Stream levels were typical and easily crossed. I bare booted about half way to the hut and then used spikes to Galehead and North Twin and back. Beaver Brook ski trails were wet and dry. The worst mud and water on the hike was right at start by the parking lot. Most of the lower Gale River Trail was dry, with some occasional running water on the trial. A dusting of snow over frozen ground and some black ice was the norm for the middle section of the trail. Above 3,000 feet on the steep section was a mix of rocks and consolidated snow. Frost Trail was mixed exposed rock and crusty snow, with some occasional ice. Twinway was also mixed exposed rock and crusty snow with some ice. Above 4,000 feet, the trail bed became consistent hard snow. North Twin Spur had the best conditions - a wide track of consolidated snow, perfect for spikes. Great day to be out. Just me and the birds.
