Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Sort of a pain in the butt for the first time in my 15x here. Sheer ice on non submerged rocks. Relied on my waterproof boots to step on a non slippery set of submerged rocks to get across. It’s a narrow crossing so no big deal but still!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few new blowdowns on descent off Dickey. Easily navigated.

Comments
Comments: The open ledges descending off Dickey are sheets of ice. I didn’t feel comfortable in my hillsounds so I bushwhacked a few stretches around the worst of it. It’s impassable without solid traction or bushwhacking. One stretch reminded me of a “gentle” no fall zone. You won’t die but you will slide like hell for 50-100 ft before hitting a dry patch of granite. Gnarly. Lots of ice low on Welch side. Not spike worthy but requires watching your step. The slab just before first outlook on Welch was a luge course. Bushwhacked around that one too. Sort of ugly all over but with patience it can be fun.
