Comments: Started my hike mid day and did the road walk to the Sugarloaf Trailhead. I met a family of five a short distance up the trail coming towards me, "You're the first person we have seen all day" and then ten minutes later by the first large boulder with the crack through it I met three men "You're the first person we have seen all day". I told them there was a group a head of them, funny how they managed to miss each other. I did squeeze through the crack in the big rock and the men watched me do it and I think they were amused, I told them I always go this way. There was a dusting of snow in all the shady areas and plenty of ice where there is usually standing water. I don't think anyone wore spikes today, I used my boots that have carbide spikes built in and was glad to wear them. From the intersection the climb up Middle was snowy and icy. Nice views today! I decided to visit North since I was near and I enjoyed the views from up there and the trail up North is snow and ice free, it gets the afternoon sun. Easy walk down and I decided to visit Wildlife Pond, it was ice covered and white with the dusting of snow. I decided to take the snowmobile trail back down instead of the road and I enjoyed it very much. The footing was excellent, ground was dry, level and mowed and it was very pretty and I am glad I did. First time doing this hike in the calendar winter.
