Parked at LaFayette Place, up Hi Cannon and down Lonesome Lake Trail.
Barebooted until a quarter mile on Hi Cannon, put on micro spikes where ice became consistent. There were several spots on Hi Cannon that were very very icy that required extra caution, mostly before the ladder. The ladder was completed uncovered.
Once reach the junction of the ridge trail, it was solid packed snow/ice and a lot easier stroll.
The top half mile of Lonesome Lake Trail was very steep and very icy. Crampons were a much safer traction. I ditched the hiking poles and held on to the trees coming down. At times, I went into the woods to bypass the extremely slick icy parts. It took almost an hour to get down that half mile. After that, the trail was still icy but a lot easier.
Very mild temperature and calm wind. It was quite windy on the tower though.
Safe hiking!! |
