| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There is parking for a couple of vehicles at the end of the dirt portion of Pike Hill Road, before the trail hooks left up a private drive. Pike Hill Road suffered a bit during the recent heavy rain, and the edges were eroded a tad, higher up (north). Even with the new repairs, the road narrows a bit more than usual. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
As a previous poster noted a week or so ago, the trailhead sign on Pike Hill Road is missing -- it used to be on a large tree where there are now two orange, plastic snowmobile trail signs. Quite a bit of deadfall on the trail down low in the area of open hardwoods, which, coupled with many missing trail signs, can make finding the corridor a challenge -- everything looks like a corridor in some parts. As the previous poster noted, as well, there are a few very large (rotten) hardwood blowdowns. One, in particular, is about two feet in diameter and has fallen across the trail just where it turns sharply left (when heading NW) up the short, rocky bit before the it levels out, obscuring the turn somewhat. |

| Comments: |
We love this route to Plymouth Mountain, and hike this trail frequently. We have noticed that parts of it are getting a bit neglected in the past few years, mainly the first three quarters of a mile or so -- this section has been a rutted stream bed for some time, but even more so now. Also, most of the brand-new-a-few-years-ago Camp Mowglis trail signs are gone (quite a few have fallen off -- probably a result of being nailed all the way in into hardwoods with non-galvanized nails). It would not take much to relo this section, given how open the woods are here, away from the stream bed and possibly switchback it a bit. A few paint blazes could be helpful, as well. The upper two-thirds of the trail, which run mainly through softwoods, are fine and dandy; it's also the section that has most of the intact signs. |
