| Water Crossing Notes: |
Had to get adventurous on a couple of the water crossings, particularly the one about a quarter mile after the intersection with Carter Dome Trail. Tested the strength of the ice with my foot and instantly regretted it. Found a much better crossing about 20 yards up trail, but it does require some awkward navigation. |

| Comments: |
We bare booted up Nineteen Mile Brook until about 3400 feet, but probably should have put spikes on much sooner. The trail requires a lot of patience as you alternate from frozen ground to ice to no end. That said, it's entirely hike-able despite recent weather.
The climb up to Wildcat A is a mix of ice, packed snow and loose snow that you'll quickly sink in to. Spikes stayed on the whole way up and made all the difference. Coming down was slow and safe, but keep an eye out for weak snow bridges covering up holes underneath.
The warm weather will probably melt a lot of the snow, but most of the ice looks like it's here for the winter. Bring spikes and you'll be fine. |
