| Water Crossing Notes: |
The main water crossing took a bit of thought and water proof boots. Rocks covered with ice and fairly high water level. Some used a large log upstream, horseback style. But stepping in shallow water and rocks a few inches under the current to avoid ice worked fine. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few blow downs across the trail, one has had all branches taken off so easy step over, |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Did not see any today. Trail is maybe a bit icy, but plenty of room on the trails for fourpaws to find a safe way. |
|
| Bugs: |
Nope |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Green Hat in a tree up in liberty. |

| Comments: |
Barefooted up to the first sign before the tent site. Some ice but avoidable. From sign up used microspikes, lots of flowing solid hard ice, and mostly ice coverage so no need to keep switching. Between liberty and flume mostly hard snow and ice, a few tricky spots going down. On the way back a number of us used crampons going up from the col bottom back up liberty, just for practice. It warmed up so we had some water flowing over the ice on way down. Overall a mild condition first “winter” hike to start the season off. |
