Comments
Comments: It was a day of "on/off" for the spikes. There are lots of short icy areas, followed by bare rocks. Both 19 Mile Brook and Carter Dome have some occasional ice (easy to go around) and lots of bare ground. Carter Dome seems more eroded than I remember in the past. There's the usual thick icy area just below Zeta. In hindsight, I wish I'd packed both my good spikes and my rock spikes, but only had my good ones so I took them on and off several times on the ascent. For the descent I took them off just past the icy section below Zeta. Ice is avoidable, but there's enough to be tedious. Carter Moriah to South (that's as far as I went) was in pretty good shape. There's enough snow and ice to keep spikes on the whole way.
