| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked in the usual spot on Old Antrim Rd. but the road is in excellent condition all the way to the trailhead. There is parking in a small pull off just past the trailhead across from the log landing. Note that this may not be possible to drive to if we ever get significant snow. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A few scattered blowdowns. From the trailhead to Round, it looks like the blazes have been refreshed; thank you! Beyond Round, the blazing is still faded so I assume this is a project in progress. It was interesting to see that the main route of the trail has been moved off the steep scramble to the top of Bacon Ledge and onto the bypass that went around this scramble. This is much safer now if things are icy. |

A couple things put this hike back on my mind recently and it was perfect for today. I always enjoy it out here as it is remote and always quiet.
Trout Pond was dead silent. No sounds of nature, no wind, nothing. The view from Bacon Ledge is still good and it's a nice perch for the minimal effort to get there. Round has a new mini-canister placed in 2021. The notebook is wedged in there pretty good but does come out with some care.
These trails were mainly dry/damp except for the lower logging road portion which had some running water. A recent timber harvest in this section has had minimal impact on the trail. |
