Bare booted entire hike. Trails dry with small patches of packed snow and ice. Small sections with water and soft mud were easily avoided. Ice and snow increases with elevation up to the falls. The trail at the Fletcher Cascade was too icy to cross the brook (maybe with crampons and skill).
At the falls, we turned to the right/south for a steep climb up out of the ravine before turning easterly toward Flat Mtn summit. Mostly open woods, with a few tighter spruce to push through. Opened up in several spots above the falls to frozen marsh (likely wet with higher temps). Summit and register easy to locate in open woods. Headed down in north westerly route before turning west down a steep ridge towards the FCT well below the falls. Great lines by both Bill and Mark S. |
