The rock hop was easy today. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There are a few leaners on Liberty Springs Trail before the water crossing, and a stepover below the tentsite that has been beautifully delimbed. There are also a few leaners on Franconia Ridge Trail both before Liberty and between the two peaks. None of these are a problem right now. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw one today; this is a great route for dogs. |

| Comments: |
Although it was foggy for most of my hike, it was a fine day for these two peaks. Just like last year, someone unofficially marked the start of the herd path off Franconia Bike Path - but this year it’s a sign that says “Liberty Springs Trail 500 yards” and has an arrow that points to the right. The funny part is that the sign is exactly where I personally always cross that little brook and start to make my way uphill so I disregarded the sign and went my normal way.
I didn’t need light traction until the FPA sign below the tentsite, and removed it just below there on the way down. Above that spot the ice and snow are consistent and beat-up rock spikes worked just fine (the weather was warm so the ice was soft).
Only a few people were out on this warm Tuesday. |
