Comments
Comments: A previous poster from a days ago referenced the Welton Falls Trail and Elwell Trail, including old signage* and old corridor. Some of this information conflicts with what we've seen in our frequent and recent use of these trails, and so we took a quick walk up the new Welton Falls Trail (North) and followed the Elwell Trail west to the previous version of the Welton Falls Trail (North) just to check on some of this.

Some quick background: much of woods around the Elwell Trail and its connections with the Welton Falls Trail, both southern and northern portions, was heavily logged just shy of a decade ago, making those trail sections difficult to maintain (and follow) until some of the new growth was better established. WFT North was maintained until a couple of years ago, when trailhead access was posted as closed off by a new landowner**, and so a new version of the trail was cut and opened recently. WFT South was affected most by the logging, and so it's taken some time to find a new route for it (please be patient).

So, neither trail has been abandoned -- merely moved/new iterations created, as has been the case for decades with both trail sections.

*All directional trail signage along the Elwell Trail is accurate, EXCEPT the old WFT South sign, which will be removed soon.
**Our rekky today confirmed this, again -- this section of the old/disused WFT North is posted as private property with no trespassing allowed. It is posted many times, and in numerous locations near the old corridor. Just FYI.
