Comments
Comments: Hiked with George from Wakefield MA for most of the distance. We were the only two hikers to Eastman Mountain today. The air was seasonably mild.
I would guess the 80-85% of the surfaces were leaf or needle covered with no ice/snow. There are patches of frozen slush or icy snow here and there. I hiked most of the way with bare boots. I elected to put on the microspikes heading up the north side of Eastman Mountain. Some may even bare boot this section.
Good views from the summit area including the undercast from the low-lying fog.
Snowshoes would be useless although one should carry light traction.
