| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Very muddy road. This is much more like March out there today. I do not recommend coming down Stinson Lake Rd from the north end, but I did make it in a minivan in low gear with white knuckles. It's just very, very muddy. Coming from the south is easier. |

I am posting mostly because the conditions differ so greatly from yesterday's report. The ice is now only in the last .3 miles, and avoidable. Definitely carry the light traction as always this time of year, but I bare-booted and stepped carefully in the last .3mi with no issue. Much bigger of a problem right now is the mud. The whole trail is very muddy and it makes it difficult on the descent. Even the short stretch of fire road / snowmobile trail is unstable mud with wet leaves on top. While today's main issue wasn't ice, I concur that waiting till we get some snow or colder temps would make for a better hike. Also, if all this rain freezes, it might be icier again on short order. Enjoy! |
