Well off for a 4k a day knowing the rain was staying. I was surprised that it only lightly sprinkled and then towards the end it stopped. I can’t believe this is December still. I put spikes on at about 3,650’. I hold off longer than others do usually but there were lots of exposed rocks showing through the ice. And just when you think you could put spikes on a completely bare section would happen. Even on the summit left trail (still some bare spots). The summit had the most rain so touched the benchmarker, took a photo with the sign and said bye to the chick who was up there when I got up there. I went down the same way I came and left my spikes on a lot longer (thankfully my rock spikes) just for good measure. I saw 6 others on my way down with 1 person I think who turned around as they did not have any traction. I went to look at the view which is nuts is almost fully snow free on the mountain but I could hear the skiers having a blast. |
