| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The road was still open- very wet and muddy though.
Parking lot would be perfect for a pig pen. There was SO MUCH MUD. My SUV with trail tires did just fine, but both of the other cars bottomed out and needed pushes. BE CAREFUL. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
5 significant water crossings. Felt like the hippo in that break the ice game at times, the tall people did fine but I got creative a few times. All doable with some skill. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A couple of recent blowdowns on the ridge.
One critical turn by where some other trails come in around the power lines has a downed tree that has the double blaze on it, got us of course briefly. |

Reel Brook would've been a great snowshoe if there was snow! Lots of water crossings but even after all this rain they were still doable. The ridge was a more variable on conditions. Times of 3 inches of snow around the 3300 foot band, but mostly just ice. We did microspikes from the junction to Wolf which worked fine. I could imagine crampons being necessary if one's microspikes are dull.
Be cautious of mud, i ate it three times on the way down with those classic 3-foot heel slides. Looked like a damsel in distress falling in my insulated skirt among my group of FKT holding guys haha.
No trip report today, which feels odd for me, but I didn't feel like I had enough to say nor did the pictures yield anything other than fun mud pictures! |
