| Comments: |
Road is bare and frozen after the gate to the Lodge. The trail from the lodge down to the bridge is as slick as anything you'll see all day. Spikes stayed in the pack all day, the ~1-3" of snow that was on top of the ice/rocks made the grip pretty good. Most people were wearing spikes, a couple people had put them on then took them off...still lots of exposed rocks, but above 3500' there is enough snow that you won't have to walk on rocks with the spikes. There is enough wetness/existing ice that it could easily be a different story tomorrow so you'll definitely want spikes in your bag. Maybe 4-6" of snow above treeline, but rocky, def no need for snowshoes. |
