I grew up and Manch back in the day and looked at the Uncanoonucs over in Goffstown for years, and never thought to hike those seemingly urbanish mountains. I am glad now that I finally did. This was a great short trek over both mountains, and they were a nice little adventure and mix of trails, and much more wooded than I thought. Views are not what you'd get in the Whites, of course, but that's OK. So many trails to explore, and little outlook views to find, I will be back to check out more trails sometime. Just right for a short day hike when I didn't want to be on the road or trail all day. Picking actual trails was hard since there are a few, and some showed up on some maps and not others (looks like mixed use with some snowmobile trails on some). Actual trails are well blazed, others a little less obvious. Just right for a short day outing. I like North best because it is undeveloped, but South was just fine, too. |
