Comments
Comments: Started at 6 from beaver Brook xc ski area. The trail is very wet for the first quarter mile. We wore exo spikes from start to the Garfield junction. Trace amounts of snow covering rocks, roots and ice. At the hut we changed into microspikes and left these on for the remainder of the day. Up to south twin was not very icy. We were joined by Bill the science guy over to N twin. We were both the only people each other saw up to that point. We parted way and headed down north twin and he went back to south. Trail was icy with a few inches of new snow. Then running water as we approached the river crossing.
We purposely went in this direction, knowing the crossing might be tricky. We also brought garbage bags. After a little bit of searching, we did find a place across a little upstream, and just submerged our foot a little bit. Easy trek out and back to the car. 2 cars in the lot upon our return but never saw the other group that probably hit hale.
