Comments
Comments: I put on spikes fairly early in the hike, though there's a lot of bare rock and running water on the Lonesome Lake Trail past the Lake. KRT was packed down, looks like it has seen a lot of traffic, and looked like it continued south of the peak. The short, steep part going up to NE Cannonball was very icy, so I put on K-10's (not full crampons) for its descent and left them on till just below the ladder on Hi-Cannon when I switched back to rock spikes, though I could've switched out sooner. Most other hikers had on just spikes; I liked the extra grip for the steep icy descent on Hi-Cannon. The ladder was a just little icy and could've easily been done in spikes. There was a surprising amount of snow on the Hi-Cannon, fluffy and freshly fallen from the morning flurries.
