Comments
Comments: Crawford Path to Pierce is bony. We barebooted until about 0.25m below summit of Pierce. There was some thick flow ice above the Mizpah Cutoff. We saved Pierce summit for return trip to avoid an unruly, big offleash dog. Crawford on to Eisenhower was somewhat drifted on the exposed sections, and might have been difficult to follow for those unfamiliar with the trail if there hadn't been about 4 tracks ahead of us. Once getting above the stairs the drifts got 3' deep. No one brought snowshoes, including us, and as a result, there were very deep postholes. Some had beelined up to the summit, but we stayed on trail. The summit was relatively bare. There were reports of the trail beyond edmands path intersection, up towards Monroe, being unhikable without snowshoes. The snow was firm and would have supported snowshoed hikers.
