Trail crampons door to door. Valley Way is kind of a mess with bare earth down low, then thick ice, then packed snow up to the hut. Basically really bony due to erosion and lack of snow from the huge rain storm last week. We went up gulfside to thunderstorm junction and then Lowes Path to the Adams summit. I wouldn't recommend that. Gulfside is full of voids and rocks so the footing isn't great due to a lack of snow. Ditto for Lowes. Came down Airline to the hut and then up Osgood to Madison, which was also full of voids. But the biggest obstacle of the day was the wind, which was much pushier than expected and knocked us around. Shout out to Remington34 who we met at the hut on the way up. |
