Parking lot at Downes Brook Trailhead was plowed and no ice. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |

|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction, Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The first two crossing of Downes Brook in the beginning required some thought but very doable with a full pack on. You will cross about 6 times with each time being easier as you gain elevation. Beware of ice on top of rocks while crossing. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Downes Brook isn't marked with blazes though easy to follow aside a few spots in the middle. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Aside the water crossings may be nice as I saw no one on the trail up or down. |

| Comments: |
Didn't need spikes until the last mile of the Downes Brook Trail. Snow doesn't appear until almost 3000' consistently. The Kate Sleeper and Rollins Trail had about 2" of pack snow on them and were icy. Bring Crampons. |
