Warmup hike with esteemed company on this pleasant, multi switchbacked stroll up to Crawford-Ridgepole Trail on the relatively new (2017) Brooks Fisher Trail. This path does not feel like a White Mtn. trail at all. Haha. There was no snow or ice; we barebooted.
Next, we headed up Eagle Cliff Trail which had patches of ice here and there, especially on the scrambly ledges, all of it easy to avoid. We carried light traction but never felt compelled to wear it. My partners waited patiently whilst I descended the bypass loop and reclimbed the ledgy part. We hit the summit, backtracked to Teedie, descended, and road walked back to the cars.
Then we drove down to Red Hill/Cabin Trail. Again, no real snow or ice to speak of so we barebooted up Red Hill Trail and down Cabin, doing the little out and backs to the cellar holes. We climbed as high as we could on the tower, but the top part is locked.
Surprised at the end of the day to have hiked almost 13 miles and more than 3500' of climb for a 2000' mountain. :) |
