Comments
Comments: An absolute fantastic day to be on the trails. 26 to start, 14 was the lowest temp I saw, no wind. No snow low but frozen ground. Lite snow overnight maybe trace to 1/2 inch of new snow all day. Fast conditions, bear booted to Pine Bend junction then rock spikes until back to Livermore. Didn’t need them on the South Slide just didn’t want to stop. The icey area on the steeps on Pine Bend were not terrible but if I went back this way sharp spikes would have gone on. Some views on North & Middle. Not terribly hard coming off either summit. Was thinking about going back to hit Scaur but met folks on Middle who came up the North Slide....crazy bastards! No one had been over to South so I followed them. Slide wasn’t bad, more snow in the open areas but frozen. These folks who I’ll call the fast hikers absolutely blew my doors off heading down.....wow. Deep semi frozen leaf piles heading down. Really quick back. Thanks to Yvette, Jess, Kevin & Sharad for dragging my ass back with them!
