| Comments: |
This was a big hike but it was a good day for it. While the clouds were low and the temperatures were right aroudn 15 degrees, the wind was light and the trails were fast. We barebooted for a while until we hit very thick ice on Passaconaway cutoff and then left spikes on until the end of our hike. There was almost no snow between Passaconaway and Whiteface, and elsewhere, there was never more than 6" of frozen snow. Some sections of the Tripyramids had substantial ice, but past hikers' spikes had given the ice enough texture we were fine descending in microspikes. |
