| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Zealand Rd closed, 2.5 mile road walk each way. Do not park at the gate! I was tempted to but there is a parking lot less than .2 miles down the road, not worth getting towed. |

| Comments: |
Loose powder the entire way with icy patches / some exposed rocks. Made for a very difficult / tedious hike - too loose for spikes, not quite deep enough to wear snowshoes comfortably , but also bareboot is like walking in sand, your feet will slide out from under you every single step. Wore snowshoes up for traction, bareboot down. Fell many times going down lol. Will wait for more snowfall/ a packed trail, though the rail will probably prevent that. The road walk was scenic but felt long at the end. Met a hiker who brought cross country skis to get back, smart idea |
