Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plowed parking off Old Hebron Rd. in Plymouth. The short section of the road leading to the trailhead was very icy but also sanded.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This route needs better blazing. Blaze colors are both blue and yellow (and faded) and there are sections where the corridor is hard to follow. I'm pretty good at route finding but had to stop three times in the open woods below Pikes Peak to hunt for blazes.

Comments
Comments: I can't say these were my favorite snowshoe conditions. Down low was more cement/quicksand and up higher up there was more breakable crust that would suddenly collapse underfoot. Or not. Some of the time I was able to stay on top but more often than not I was punching through. Hikers who are lighter on their feet than I am will have an advantage. Soft powdery snow would have been less tiring.

That said, snowshoes are 100% necessary on this route; it's nowhere near ready for bare boot or spikes. There was some evidence of previous travel but it was all filled/melted in.
