Comments
Comments: We all brought snowshoes but left em in the car. We were only going to have lunch at the lake. AMC Hut report stated spikes below the hut and shoes above. The trail is well packed snow and ice and frozen granular topping it off. This trail is great in the winter as most of the rocks are snow covered. And the monorail is being established [note: that is NOT monorail.]. From the hut, the loop is not broken out but it would not have been a problem today if we brought our snow shoes. This will change after the storm into Saturday. Temps were pleasant today, but it was cloudy and the wind picked up around the hut. It cleared as we descended for some great views of the ridge and it was over 40 degrees when we arrived at our cars. A great day and always a great hike!
