|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Oooof. If I didn’t know any better I would say a microburst occurred. Parking lot is covered in fresh pine branches, and the first two miles of trains have significant blowdowns that had to be routed around. We stopped counting after 10. |

One snazzily-dressed Goldie named Toby, who was indeed a good boi, and enjoyed the attention! |

| Comments: |
Serious work will need to be done for the copious amount of blowdowns, use caution! The trail is well packed out until the junction for Bald Peak (Hillsounds were fine), and then things get deeper and softer. We and 6 other smart souls opted for snowshoes…the rest of folks out there enjoyed postholes as deep as 18-20 in all the way to North Kinsman, and in some sections of the ridge between North & South. Snow squalls dumped about 2 in of fresh powder, so we tried to work that into the worst areas, but it’s a bit of a mess the last .5 miles to the AT junction, so watch your ankles! |
