Excellent day to hike. No clouds and wind at the summit was 15-20 mph. Taking Gorge Brook up I used microspikes only and had no issues with the trail. It was packed down but there were visible portholes at points on the sides. These were easily avoided.
Carriage Road was not as broken out but microspikes still okay. On the descent I passed a skier coming up from Snapper Trail and two hikers from Glencliff Trail in snow shoes. I had looked at Snapper on the way up since it didn’t look well packed out and I switched to snow shoes for the entire descent from the South Peak. |
