Comments
Comments: Whelp, it wasn't in the cards today. Broke trail (2-4 inches on top of established trough, some deeper drifts as you approach the ledges) up until that wacky tree you have to practically climb on the first steep ledge (solid ice). Switched to trail crampons at the tree, even made it up to that narrow ledge just above the slab and into the gully. Then the ice looked too daunting/dangerous, and I reluctantly turned around. Snowshoes went back on all the way to the road. Crampons and ice ax might have done the trick, but it was very sketchy up there. We still need more snow, packed down, to make this any fun.
