Comments
Comments: Snowshoes all the way - snowshoes will be needed for the near future. Saw a woman at the end of her hike who said she broke trail to Pierce (thank you again!!) and then a guy started up right before me. So the 3 of us were the only sets of tracks today and there's still a lot of fluffy unconsolidated powder. Great snowshoe conditions really. Trail has a good track set up, a couple of postholes on the edges. Snowpack is getting high towards the summit! There are snow drifts as soon as the trail opens up, just before the Webster Cliff Trail junction. Hard wind swept snow/ice up the final stretch to the summit. The trail to Eisenhower is not broken and it has significant snow and snow drifts, both hikers before me said they planned on Eisenhower but called it because of the drifts. The Webster Cliff Trail had some tracks on it after the summit, perhaps someone from Mt Jackson, or perhaps just the guy before me checking things out - don't count on this being broken out between summits. A really gorgeous day, the woods were a wintertime masterpiece!
